- General Motors has named Robert E. Ferguson its global vice president for the Cadillac brand. Mr. Ferguson, who had served as G.M.'s vice president of global public policy, is charged with marketing, brand management and advertising for the luxury division. Cadillac recently rolled out what it called the most ambitious marketing initiative in its history, for the ATS sports sedan. (General Motors)
- At a materials trade show on Tuesday in Dusseldorf, Germany, Ford demonstrated a hood manufactured from carbon fiber reinforced polymers, known as C.F.R.P., on a Focus wagon. Ford said introducing components containing C.F.R.P. would help t he automaker meet more stringent fuel-efficiency standards. The hood on the Focus weighed 50 pounds less than its steel equivalent, Ford claimed. (Plastics Today)
- MarÃa de Villota, the test driver for the Marussia Formula One team who lost her left eye as a result of a crash in July in Britain, was interviewed recently by Hola, a tabloid in her native Spain, in which she discussed the crash and her recovery. De Villota said she had not recovered her sense of taste or smell and that she frequently experienced headaches. âThe accident has given me a new perspective about life, about the things that matter,â she said.
