Wheelies: The $272,000 Question Edition

- At the São Paulo auto show this week, Bugatti unveiled a one-off version of its Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse called the Gris Rafale, carrying a price of 1.9 million euros, or $2.5 million. The gray body is offset by blue carbon-fiber accents, and the blue leather of the interior is stitched with contrasting gray thread. However subtle, these color and materials selections command a premium of roughly $272,000 over the base Vitesse. (Bugatti)

- Confirming reports that circulated earlier this week, Ford announced on Wednesday that it would seek the clos ing of its plant in Genk, Belgium. On Ford's timetable, the plant would be shuttered by the end of 2014, with production of the Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy shifting to the automaker's plant in Valencia, Spain, where the 1-liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine and other products are built. The shutdown comes as automakers struggle to reconcile weak demand in Europe with overcapacity at its plants in the region. (Ford)

- Having sustained concussions in crashes on Aug. 29 and Oct. 9, Dale Earnhardt Jr., who sat out two races in the Nascar Sprint Cup chase, has been cleared by a neurosurgeon to compete at Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, Va., this weekend. Earnhardt, who in June won his first Sprint Cup race in four years, is scheduled to address the media on Friday from Martinsville. (ESPN)

- Sam Posey, the former motorsports broadcaster for ABC Sports and elite driver in multiple formulas, is to receive the Spirit of Competition award from the Simeone Foundation in Phila delphia on Dec. 5. Posey competed in Grand-Am, Formula One and Le Mans endurance races before becoming an on-air commentator for ABC Sports, moving later to Speed TV. (Simeone Foundation)
