Wheels Calendar for Aug. 24-26

A bite-size sampling of concours, cruise nights, auctions and other upwellings of car culture happening across America this weekend.

Corvettes at Carlisle: Aug. 24-26, Carlisle, Pa.
More than 5,000 Corvettes are anticipated in Carlisle, Pa., for this annual rite, none more highly than a 1960 model, recently unearthed in Florida, that may be the long-sought third car in a Le Mans team fielded by Briggs Cunningham that year. More info.

Hillsborough Concours d'Élégance: Aug. 26, Burlingame, Calif.
Billed as the longest continually running concours in the world, this show, founded in 1956, is a fittingly grand follow-up to the proceedings at Pebble Beach last weekend. A Tour d'Élégance road rally will be run on Saturday, a day before the judged concours. Featured classes this year are Rolls-Royce and Cadillac. More info.

Mopars on the Mississippi: Aug. 26, Dubuque, Iowa
This riverside event, i n its 16th year, is organized by Chicagoland Mopar Club. There will be music, food and a large parts-swap area. An inclusive affair, a judged Open Class invites members of the Ford and Chevy clans to join in with their peers' Challengers, Darts and other revitalized Chrysler nameplates. More info.

35th Annual New England Auto Auction: Aug. 25, Owls Head, Me.
Held at the superlative Owls Head Transportation Museum in Midcoast Maine, this sale is known particularly for its consignments of prewar agricultural trucks, some culled from the surrounding towns. More info.
