- From Thursday through Sunday on the grounds of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Ãlégance, Cadillac will show two V-16-powered Fleetwood roadsters built during the Great Depression. The cars were available for order but never bought by customers, General Motors said in a news release. The pair will be joined by a 1953 Le Mans convertible, a concept exhibited in the touring G.M. Motorama shows of the early and mid-1950s. (General Motors)
- Mercedes-Benz announced pricing on Tuesday for its E400 Hybrid midsize sedan. The company expects the $56,705 car to return combined fuel economy of 27 m.p.g. It is powered by a 302-horsepower direct-injec tion V-6 gasoline engine and a 27-horsepower electric motor. The E300 BlueTec Hybrid, a diesel hybrid exhibited during the Detroit auto show in January, is not expected to be offered in the United States. (Mercedes-Benz)
- Bloomberg reports that owners of exotic automobiles in Italy, faced with increasing annual taxes on luxury goods, are shipping their vehicles to other European Union countries for resale. The Italian government has also conducted random checks of motorists' tax records to confirm their declared income was sufficient to own a luxury vehicle. (Bloomberg)
- A release date has been set for âRush,â the film directed by Ron Howard about the rivalry between the Formula One drivers Niki Lauda and James Hunt in the 1970s. The film, released by Universal Studios, is scheduled to be in limited release on Sept. 20, 2013. (Indiewire, via Autoblog)
